The Universal Human Rights Student Network (UHRSN) is a student-led movement founded in September 2014 by a group of human rights students from several different countries of the global north and south. UHRSN empowers human rights students by publishing student written articles and scientific papers, by encouraging student activism, by supporting and connecting student-led initiatives and by advocating for the human rights of students globally.
“Our mission is to amplify the voices of the young human rights generation by making their critical thoughts, claims and ideas accessible to a large audience.”
Around the world students face severe violations of their human rights including the suppression of their freedom to expression and opinion, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, inhuman treatment and torture because they expose human rights violations, ignite protests against corrupt regimes or simply because they raise their opinions.
“We monitor, document and expose human rights violations against students.”
UHRSN was launched to connect human rights students, alumni and young leaders from all around the world. Providing a platform where upcoming human rights experts can converge to share information, publish about their opinions and ally with other passionate people to achieve common goals in the field of human rights. Therefore we work to support the disctint perspectives and actions of young people.
“Our long-term goal is to establish a network among human rights students, who quickly join forces when human rights are at stake.”
